Getting back into a routine can be difficult, but clean energy teas can really help ease you back in. After months of lazy summer days lounging by the pool, switching back to school mode might be the last thing on your mind. But with fall fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about your new routine!

Of course, getting back on a proper sleep schedule is important for boosting your energy, but including a good mix of clean energy teas can help you stay alert and on track. Let’s get into it.

What is “clean energy?”

“Clean energy” might sound like we’re talking about sustainable energy sources like solar power, but we’re actually talking about tea! “Clean energy” means a boost of jitter-free energy thanks to the unique combination of low caffeine levels and other stimulating compounds in tea like theobromine (which is also found in chocolate!).

  • Yerba Maté, Guayusa & Yaupon: The big draw for enthusiasts of these herbs is that they provide a balanced energy boost that’s been described as gentle, clean, calm and, most importantly, free of jitters. These ingredients help you stay alert, but they won’t keep you up all night either. All three plants are members of the holly family, and for this reason, we group them all in the maté category.
  • Camellia sinensis (aka tea!): Yes, our favourite plant of all, Camellia sinensis, is a powerful source of clean energy! The tea plant naturally contains the power combo of caffeine with L-theanine, an amino acid that helps promote feelings of calm and well-being. It’s enjoyed across the world for a breakfast brew or afternoon pick-me-up. Our pro-tip? Garden to Cup teas (which contain just the tea leaf and no other ingredients) are often greater sources of caffeine than blended teas.
  • Coffee Bean & Leaf: Who says you can’t have tea AND coffee? You can get the best of both worlds! Coffee beans are internationally loved for their rich, roasty flavour and bold kick of caffeine, but have you ever heard of coffee leaf?
