And Happy New Decade! It\u2019s going to be a good one. Because, this year, we\u2019re doing resolutions differently and we\u2019re taking you with us. In the words of the great Lizzo, \u201cIf I\u2019m shining, everybody gonna shine!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How you ask? By concentrating on things that <em>you actually want to happen<\/em> and then building habits so that they do. Call them resolutions, intentions, whatever, it\u2019s time to boss up and change your life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CHOOSE\nCHANGE <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get into your time machine and travel to\nnext New Year\u2019s Eve. What change(s) are you the happiest you made? It probably\nwon\u2019t be cutting down on sugar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly McGonigal, a health psychologist and author of <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The Willpower Instinct (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/a.co\/1OOOesj\" target=\"_blank\"><u><strong>The Willpower Instinct<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/em>, suggests focusing on the actual things in your life and not some random behaviour \u2013 working out, meditating \u2013 that you <em>think <\/em>might be good for you. Instead, take a bit of time to reflect on what changes that will bring you happiness \u2013 a cup of <strong><u><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Grand Cru Matcha (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/collections\/matcha-shop\/grand-cru-matcha\/10444DT01VAR0021004.html#q=matcha&amp;start=1\" target=\"_blank\">Grand Cru Matcha<\/a><\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;excellent at helping you focus \u2013 and head towards that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CHANGE\nYOUR ENVIRONMENT <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a perception that if you do\nsomething for three weeks, it will become a habit. But what if in week four,\nyou come down with the flu? It\u2019s much more difficult to get back on that habit\nhorse. If you want to make lasting changes or build healthier habits, altering\nyour physical environment might be more impactful. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember the days when you could smoke in bars and restaurants (and, for some of us, offices)? But now that it\u2019s banned in these environments, smoking has declined thanks, in part, to the inconvenience of having to go outside to do it. Forget about the failures and instead celebrate the small win. You went to bed for a week straight without an Instagram scroll?
