The amount of caffeine in a tea leaf can be affected by\nmany factors including altitude, processing (shading, oxidation, etc.),\ncultivars and, of course, the kind of tea you\u2019re drinking. The amount of\ncaffeine you\u2019re consuming will also depend on the amount of tea and the type of\ntea in your cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve\nprobably already noticed that there are many different types of teas available.\nAt DAVIDsTEA, we offer a collection of nine tea types and each has its own\ngeneral range of caffeine \u2013 from high to medium to low to zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#003865\">CAFFEINE&nbsp;IN&nbsp;BLACK&nbsp;TEA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/black\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"black teas (opens in a new tab)\"><u>black teas<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;range from 10-100 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup, while coffee contains on average 140 mg per cup. Black tea is naturally high in caffeine, which makes it a great pick-me-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#6c1d45\">CAFFEINE&nbsp;IN&nbsp;PU&#8217;ERH<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for the perfect Americano or double shot espresso doppelganger, then a caffeinated cup of energizing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/puerh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"pu\u2019erh tea (opens in a new tab)\"><u>pu\u2019erh tea<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;is the ideal candidate to replace your go-to dark roast. Like black tea, pu\u2019erh is also naturally high caffeine. In fact, these teas can contain anywhere from 14-125 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#298fc2\">CAFFEINE&nbsp;IN&nbsp;OOLONG<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"oolong teas (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/oolong\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>oolong teas<\/u><\/a><a> <\/a>contain between 10-55 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup, which is slightly more than green tea (next on our list), less than black tea and a lot less than coffee (140 mg per cup). A happy medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#6cc04a\">CAFFEINE IN MATCHA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the reasons we love <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/matcha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"matcha (opens in a new tab)\"><u>matcha<\/u><\/a><a> <\/a>green tea so much is because of its caffeine content \u2013 our matchas contain 20-40 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup. So how is it different from regular green tea? Matcha powder is made from finely ground green tea leaves \u2013 so with every sip, you\u2019re consuming all the benefits of the full leaf (including the caffeine). Matcha is also known to provide a sustainable boost so you don\u2019t get that post-caffeine crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#003865;background-color:#b7dd79\">CAFFEINE&nbsp;IN&nbsp;GREEN&nbsp;TEA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Want something a little less intense? <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Our green teas (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/green\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Our green teas<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;contain between 15-45 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup, which is about half the amount found in black tea. Plus, your body will appreciate the antioxidants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#003865;background-color:#b5e3d8\">CAFFEINE IN WHITE TEA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> A common misconception is that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"white tea (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/white\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>white tea<\/u><\/a> contains zero caffeine. Not true! White tea can contain anywhere from 20-50 mg of caffeine per cup. It\u2019s also the least processed tea type, which means you\u2019re sipping even more of those skin-loving antioxidants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ce0f69\">CAFFEINE IN MAT\u00c9<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Made from the dried leaves of the rainforest holly plant, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mat\u00e9 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.davidstea.com\/ca_en\/tea\/loose-leaf-tea\/mate\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Mat\u00e9<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;(and its cousin guayusa) contains low amounts of caffeine.
