How to make the best matcha latte

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A good matcha latte has the power to both calm the mind and energize the body. Spoiler alert: This is not a caffeine story. In fact, matcha contains far less caffeine than your average cup of coffee and yet still gets the job done – minus the jitters.

What’s in a matcha latte? Finely ground green tea leaves, warm water and frothed milk – that’s all. A matcha latte, much like a caffe latte, will have a milky texture and natural sweetness but with a green tea taste and vegetal finish. Want to sip something even sweeter? Replace your traditional matcha with a flavoured matcha drink mix.

If you’d like to try a matcha latte for yourself, we make them in our stores or you can craft your own from the comfort of home. Either way, we think you’re going to love it.

Pour warm water over matcha.
Step 3
Using a Matcha Tea Whisk, briskly whisk in an “M” formation until there are no clumps and a frothy top layer has formed.
Step 4
Pour matcha directly into a 16 oz cup, then top with frothed milk.

Pro Tip: Use a large spoon to hold back the foam and allow the liquid to pour in first. As the liquid runs out, release the spoon to let the foam fill the balance of the cup

*Or add matcha and water to our innovative Matcha Maker, close the lid and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Press the safety button on the lid to release any pressure that may have built up during shaking. Next, pour matcha directly into a mug and top with frothed milk.
