Poached pears are one of our favourite winter dishes, especially when infused with our Sleigh Ride herbal tea. Bursting with flavour, this fruity treat invigorates the senses and warms the soul. Having a dinner party? Try topping them with a red berry jam for a festive and sophisticated dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 Perfect Spoonful of Sleigh Ride tea
  • 1 litre of water
  • 4 Bosc pears, peeled and quartered lengthwise, cores removed
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1
Bring water, sugar, salt and tea to a boil.
Step 2
Add quartered pears and turn heat to medium-low. Cover slightly and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until pears are fork tender.
Step 3
Using a slotted spoon, remove pears into dishes.
Step 4
Optional: Microwave 2 tbs water and 2 tbs of red jam (cranberry or red-currant suggested) for 45 seconds and drizzle over warm pears.
