Reset & Recharge: The Benefits of Adaptogens in Tea

Reading Time: 3 minutes

When it comes to taking care of yourself, we believe everyone deserves a helping hand—and adaptogens in tea do just that. The daily grind of work, home, eat, sleep, repeat can leave you feeling tired and run down. And let’s be honest, those late night TV marathons can be fun, but they’re definitely not helping either.

Making time in your schedule to reset and recharge is key to staying both grounded and energized. Luckily, there are many adaptogenic ingredients in our routine-ready teas that can help you manage stress, up your energy levels and help you chill out at the end of the day. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Adaptogens: What Are They & What Do They Do?

“Adaptogen” is a term referring to plants or fungi that are said to help you adapt to stress and bring balance to your life. Though they’ve been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, the term adaptogen was first coined by doctors and pharmacologists in the 1940s.

Part of a holistic approach to fighting stress, adaptogens are believed to have an anti-fatigue effect that can lead to enhanced focus and calm. Several adaptogens can be found in our teas. Some of the most common ingredients include reishi, chaga, ashwagandha and ginseng.

Each of these ingredients come with unique benefits, meaning different adaptogens in teas can help you with any of your concerns.

Immunity-Boosting Adaptogen Teas

When the pressure’s on and each day feels busier than the last, it can really take a toll on your body. You might start to feel run down or even feel sick.

If you’re having trouble concentrating and your body is feeling weak, take a break and let the adaptogens in these loose leaf teas, including reishi, schizandra and licorice root, give your immunity a boost.

Reishi Relax: Loved for their adaptogenic properties, reishi mushrooms and schizandra berries are said to help reduce stress. Reishi also has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties to give your system a little boost.

Organic Throat Rescue: This soothing blend of mint, licorice root and cinnamon is perfect to help that tickle in your throat, especially thanks to the natural antihistamine properties of licorice root.

Energy-Boosting Adaptogen Teas

Midday drowsiness—many of us feel it, but not many of us know how to combat it. And a nap isn’t always an option! The post-lunch slump is a natural part of our body’s rhythm and is usually caused by a drop in your core body temperature.

When you feel your energy levels dip throughout the day, these wake-up teas are super-charged with reviving ingredients, such as eleuthero, to stimulate your system.

Organic North African Mint: This tea is complex, sweet and minty with a spicy finish from the ginger and cardamom. The licorice root, which is a common adaptogen with many health benefits, can help perk you up when you need it most.

Organic The Skinny: With citrusy and earthy notes, this blend is perfect for a mid-afternoon reboot. Eleuthero gives a mild boost of energy that is unlikely to cause overstimulation (and aids in digestion). It can also help increase endurance and stamina.

Calming Adaptogen Teas

One of the worst things about a busy day is how stressed out you feel. You’ve been on the go since you opened your eyes and now you’re having trouble calming down. So what do you do?

You could try taking some deep breaths or doing yoga poses at your desk, but it might disturb your colleagues. Instead, try drinking these teas for a little breather.

Organic Mighty Aphrodite:This bloat-relieving tea features lemon balm. Known as the “joy herb,” it is said to promote feelings of calm and boosts your mood.

Find your own tea routine

There are tons of trending ingredients in tea out there, many of which are adaptogens. While the ingredients themselves are loaded with benefits, we believe tea brewing and aromatherapy can be just as powerful a mood-booster.
