After the success of our first ME to WE initiative in Kenya, we’re so excited to take this rewarding partnership another big step forward. Chocuador is our third special edition tea, created with the purpose of bringing clean water to communities in Ecuador.
For a limited time, every 50 g purchase of this new tea, or any of our three ME to WE teas, will help provide 2 weeks of clean water to a person in a developing community in one of our partnering countries, including Ecuador.
What’s the big deal about water?
For starters, water is the foundation all communities around the world need to live. Not only essential for drinking, clean water access also reduces illness, helps girls go to school instead of spending hours collecting and carrying water and leads to better agriculture and food access for the entire community.
Ecuador straddles the equator on South America’s west coast and encompasses the natural wonder that is the Amazon forest. The province of Chimborazo in central Ecuador as well as the Amazon region are home to large numbers of indigenous communities who suffer from some of the highest rates of poverty in the country. Water service is frequently disrupted and water often isn’t drinkable.
The expansion of our partnership with ME to WE will help provide much-needed hand-washing stations, toilets, clean water systems, and water and sanitation education in Ecuador – all basic services we take for granted in North America.
What makes Chocuador so great?
Now that you know what this new tea can do for others, let’s dive into what it can do for you and your taste buds.
If you’re a chocoholic and you love chocolate as much as we do, Chocuador should be on your must-sip list. Laced with warming cinnamon, crunchy hazelnut and rich Ecuadorian chocolate, this sweet and fudgy caffeine-free tea is a comforting, South American-inspired hot cocoa. Fun fact: Ecuador’s cocoa industry is one of the world’s oldest.
