The rumors are true, our Soup Teas are back. This time we’ve added a dash of umami with our super savory Matcha Miso Soup Tea. The combination of hearty miso and mega-healthy Japanese matcha – antioxidants galore with just the right amount of caffeine – makes for a superpowered drink that will satisfy both your hunger and your wanderlust. What is miso?

Made from fermented soybeans, miso is a rich paste that’s overflowing with umami – a brothy flavour known as the fifth basic taste after sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Miso is also the lip-smacking not-so-secret ingredient in Japanese cuisine.

We love miso for more than just its umami flavour – it’s also teeming with feel-good enzymes said to aid with digestion. In short, it’s everything your pre-packed sandwich isn’t.

So what did we do? We took the goodness of miso and boosted it with a shot of energizing matcha – a powerhouse antioxidant made from stone-ground green tea. Together, this powerhouse combo is a delicious way to get your motor running – from tackling your early morning spin class to leading the charge in late-night karaoke.

Matcha Miso Soup Tea Recipe

Serves 2


  • Silken tofu, cut into cubes
  • Wakame seaweed (You can replace wakame with your fave leafy greens.)
  • Bonito flakes
  • Soba noodles
  • Scallions
  • Mushrooms
  • Nori
  • Sesame oil


Step 1
In a medium pot, cook soba noodles in lightly salted boiling water al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water, and divide them among 2 bowls.
Step 2
In a small pot, combine 3 cups of water with a dash of bonito flakes, silken tofu and wakame and bring to a simmer.
Step 3
Remove from heat after 10 minutes, then add 2-3 Perfect Spoonfuls of Matcha Miso and stir.
Step 4
Divide soup among the bowls and top with scallions, mushrooms, a sheet of nori and a drizzle of sesame oil.
