What is miso?
Made from fermented soybeans, miso is a rich paste that’s overflowing with umami – a brothy flavour known as the fifth basic taste after sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Miso is also the lip-smacking not-so-secret ingredient in Japanese cuisine.
Twice the benefits with miso and matcha green tea
We love miso for more than just its umami flavour – it’s also teeming with feel-good enzymes said to aid with digestion. In short, it’s everything your pre-packed sandwich isn’t.
So what did we do? We took the goodness of miso and boosted it with a shot of energizing matcha – a powerhouse antioxidant made from stone-ground green tea. Together, this powerhouse combo is a delicious way to get your motor running – from tackling your early morning spin class to leading the charge in late-night karaoke.
Flavours that complement each other
Japanese cuisine is all about balance, and the flavours in this Soup Tea are no exception. Matcha’s earthy and fresh vegetal taste brings out the light saltiness of the white miso to perfection. What better way to marry our Soup Teas and Matcha Collection?
Sip or spoon?
Brew and sip on its own in the morning for maximum zen. Then add an ingredient or two for a delicious and fuss-free #mugmeal. The rich, brothy texture makes it a satisfying snack when you’re on the move or pressed for time.
Best time to drink it
Recreate the calmness of a traditional ryokan (a Japanese-style Inn that maintains the comforts of Japanese hospitality and service) right in your very own kitchen. Miso is an essential part of a traditional Japanese breakfast. Serve the Matcha Miso alongside steamed rice, grilled fish and nori for a satisfying, protein-packed start to your day.
